Unable to get a secure connection

Postby RChadwick » Sun Oct 01, 2017 8:44 am

I've got a Dahua PTZ camera. I have port 18554 open for RSTP, 18555 for HTTP, and 18556 for HTTPS. From a web page, https to 18556 works fine. In the IP Cam Viewer app, configuring HTTP to 18555 works fine, but HTTPS to 18556 does not. Does IP Cam Viewer ignore unsigned certificates? Any other ideas why a secure connection won't work?

ip cam viewer will accept unsigned certs.

some camera's embedded https support does not actually affect media ports, data ports, etc.
best to just use stunnel to add ssl to all ports you want exposed to outside.

Never heard of stunnel, but will check into it. Thanks!

I run stunnel on a small raspberry pi 3 (along with openvpn)

stunnel looks good. I have spare RPI, but also an ESXi server with a Windows machine running, so I installed it there. Do you have a sample config for a camera? Looking at the sample config that comes with stunnel, it's not very clear what's needed and what isn't. A sample config for an IP camera sure would save many hours of trial and error.
