Need help with Upload2NAS

Do you love the auto focus camera and video recording but need a way to automatically save to your NAS?
This program will check once a day, in the background, for new pictures and videos to upload to your NAS (network storage). It will also clean up old media files after a configurable period (only for files it has already uploaded).

Need help with Upload2NAS

Postby Formel-LMS » Thu Sep 03, 2009 11:28 pm

Hi have installed the Application Yesterday and I have a huge Problem with it.
At least, Im no IT Guru and my knowledge about NAS is really...... not very much.

I can sign in to my NAS. Thats great.
But I don't know, which is my Upload Path.

I want to store the Pictures into this path/Folder:
/icebox/pictures/Mobile/

The Folder exists, but the Upload2NAS Tool says that there is no Folder found in this Path.

(Sorry, my English.... it's strong to me...) ;-)

Please help. This tool is great and if it works I want to Buy the Pro version.
But it must work first on my System.

If it can login, then it's start.

If you want to store in the path "/icebox/pictures/Mobile", then you need to create this path first.

Log into your nas to create this path or create it using your MS Windows file explorer:
type in a command prompt: explorer \\10.1.1.5
replace ip with your nas ip
when the file explorer opens, then just create your folders

You can also use the ftp command to log into your nas and create those directories.

I'll also enhance the next version to try and automatically create your directory path if it doesn't exist.

thanks,
rob

Also, start by making sure the FTP user account you use has write permissions!

Hi Rob,
thanks for Reply.
I've downloaded the New Version of Upload2NAS. But the new one doesn't work, too.

The folder exists already on my NAS.

I've got an ICYBOX.
I've tried:

/icebox/picture/htchero
\\icebox\picture\htchero
\\192.168.1.21\icebox\picture\htchero

Log In is okay, but the Application can't create the folder *itdoesexcist*

But, sorry, one question: Do I have to make changes to my Android Mobile Phone?
I still installed the App, configure it and started.
WiFi is in other Applications okay, theres no failure.

I don't understand this: "Also, start by making sure the FTP user account you use has write permissions!"
How can I do that?

Here's what you should enter into upload2nas settings:

host: 192.168.1.21
ftp port: 21 (unless yours is different)
username: xxx
password: yyy
upload path: /icebox/picture/htchero

As for write permissions, your NAS can be configured with read-only user accounts so make sure the user you are using to log in has write permissions to the root (/) directory or to the "/icebox/picture/htchero" directory. In other words, the user needs to have to ability to create directories and upload files (images and videos files)...

Hi Rob,
at first, thank you very much for this great app and this personal support.

But it don't work....
I don't know, where the failure is.

I've read/write permissions and the IP Adress of the mobile device has all permissions, too.

But the test in your programm shows: Connected to server but could not create upload path.

I think, that i must give the path of the directory in another way.

The Icybox is an Linux System. This Linux brought a Samba server with it. But that's my problem. I'm not a master of any Networks or something....

the shared directory is named icebox.
In Windows, i've got a Disc in Windows Explorer, named Icebox. There I can make Directories or copy/delete some files.

In the Icybox Configuration File is "Icebox" Folder in this path: /mnt/ide1/icebox/

But if I tried this path, the failure "...but could not create upload path" comes, too.

I tried this and "/icebox/picture/htchero

Nothing works.
