IP Cam Viewer Pro support for Amcrest DVR?

Postby davek67 » Tue Oct 06, 2015 6:45 am

Hello - My employer has been using the IP Cam Viewer Pro app (both iOS and Android) successfully with multiple Night Owl DVR's for some time. We have replaced all cameras and DVR's with HDCVI devices but the owner of the company doesn't like the mobile apps provided by the DVR manufacturer (Amcrest)... and I am unable to get the IP Cam Viewer Pro app to work with any of the HDCVI DVR's that we have.

Is there a generic setting which would work with the Amcrest DVR? Or does the app support any HDCVI DVRs out there? Thanks in advance for any direction you can provide.

There's probably a compatible driver already in the app. Use Scan Camera function to find compatible drivers.

If you only want Wifi access to camera, then first verify network accessibility by viewing your camera/dvr's login page using the phone/tablet browser.

If you want 2/3/4g access to camera, then verify network setup by viewing your camera/dvr using a PC IE browser from OUTSIDE your home wifi. Next, your phone/tablet browser should be able to load the login page but viewing may not be possible due to lack of active-x IE controls.

Once that works, then try my app. The "Scan Camera" function can help when you're not sure of the make/model. Try scanning the device's WEB/MEDIA/MOBILE/DATA ports (shown in device settings).

If Scan Camera return no results, then try to find a driver by DVR port or by login screen:

If you still have problems, AFTER scanning ALL device ports and reading all links, then give me temporary access to it and I'll put it into my work queue. Just email me the web login URL and a temporary username/password.

Also, include the make/model and a product url link (if possible).
