IP Cam Viewer - Camera Reset

I have a Vivotek PT3112.

Some of the time when I connect to it (Android app), the camera resets. I know this happens because I get a status message from the camera that it has reset. The only time the camera spontaneously resets is after IP Cam Viewer connects. Not all the time, but enough that it is obvious.

Last week the camera was set to "Factory Defaults". This was when IP Can Viewer tried to connect. I had to actually travel to my cabin to get the camera working again.

Does IP Cam Viewer send "random" characters to the camera before it connects?

it does not send random stuff to the camera before connecting.
maybe just something else coincidentally triggered by access.

for example, I once had a foscam that would periodically reboot when I accessed it.
it turns out the power supply was weak and any sudden increase in current draw sometimes caused the voltage to drop drastically and then the camera reset. weird cause the trigger could be a pan/tilt at odd times but not always.
replaced the power supply and no problems there after.
